Whirlwind Olives
Imre and Sue Mencshelyi transitioned from city living to establish Whirlwind Olives and Oil on a former dairy farm in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, purchasing the land in 2002. Their extensive efforts transformed the site, involving major improvements and new infrastructure, which inspired the name “Whirlwind.” Today, the estate features over 2,500 olive trees comprising four varieties, producing award-winning extra virgin olive oil and table olives. Initially managed as weekend farmers, the Mencshelyis adopted regenerative practices, notably grazing Wiltshire horn sheep among the olive groves. Having retired, Imre and Sue entrusted farm management in 2017 to Stacey and Ann-Marie, a Welsh couple, who, together with their son Andrew, continue the family legacy and have ambitious plans for the future. Whirlwind Olives and Oil remains committed to planet-friendly farming and offers its quality products both on-site and by arrangement.
